Érd Citizens’ Assembly: A follow up on the proposals by the Mayor

Érdi Közösségi Gyűlés másfél év után
More than a year after the first citizens’ assembly was held in Érd, the towns’ mayor, László Csőzik and Deputy Mayor, Örs Tetlák invited participants to a discussion about what had happened to the proposals adopted by the assembly. The event was held on December 14th and though not all of the 50 people who originally took part in the assembly came, about twenty residents did show up. The Mayor talked about the different ways in which the proposals influenced the work of the Municipality. He said for example that the proposals gave decision makers the necessary „courage” to embark on reforming the local parking system (which will happen in 2024) and that the 15 minute town concept suggested by members of the Assembly will be one of the main pillars of the new building regulation currently being developed. The Deputy Mayor mentioned certain tourism related developments that were also based on the recommendations. During the event the Mayor also talked about other ways in which the Municipality would like to better involve local residents in shaping the future of Érd. He mentioned for example that the town will from 2024 on have a so-called participatory budget allocated to financing initiatives submitted by the residents of Érd.
