Invitation

Closing Conference of the EU presidency program of HAND, The Hungarian Association of
NGOs for Development and Humanitarian Aid

27th June 2011.

Venue: European Youth Center: 1024 Budapest, Zivatar u. 1-3.

The Hungarian Association of NGOs for Development and Humanitarian Aid (HAND) together with its member organisations: Foundation for Development of Democratic Rights  (DemNet) and BOCS Foundation, cordially invites You for a programme that will take place on the 27th June 2011, which has been realised in the frame of HAND’s project: “New voices in international development”  linked to the Hungarian EU Presidency.

In the first half of 2011 Hungary had the honour to have the duties of president of the European Union, first time in its history, which gave the opportunity for the Hungarian non-governmental and civil society organisations active in the field of international development and humanitarian aid, to realise a joint programme that aims at raising awareness on development issues, and to strengthen development policies. This effort contributes to NMS performance in development, and is aiming at increasing the effectiveness of international development cooperation in the whole EU as well.

During the conference the results of development NGOs will be presented, such as the most recent analyses of Hungarian ODA contribution, a recommendation paper on development policy and legislative environment, as well as  recommendations on Hungary’s new  Africa strategy.  Issues such as how the transition experience of the New Member States can add to the global goals of international cooperation, and how the Visegrad countries can make a joint effort in development will be also discussed with experts, academics and decision makers.
