The 'Opportunities for Cooperation Between NGOs and Local Governments' handbook was made for NGOs and local governments to foster cross-sector partnership and cooperation. The reader can learn about the Hungarian cooperation practices in the areas of public service provision. This book analyzes the situation of both local governments and NGOs, the legal and institutional background for contracting, and provides an essential help with concrete case studies and contract templates. Contractual cooperation is primarily the business of local governments and NGOs, but it also serves local communities as resulted in better quality public services.

NGO - Local Government Cooperation in Bosnia-Herzegovina

The major goal of this program is strengthening the social, economic and political stabilization process and the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina through transferring the Hungarian experience of EU accession in the area of cooperation between civil society organizations and public administration at local level.

NGO - Local Government Cooperation in Serbia

Two projects were parallel supporting the same goal: strengthening the capacities of a core group of NGOs in Serbia to able to establish and maintain a meaningful cooperation with municipalities. The project intended to leave behind a group of strong and sustainable NGOs in the region. DemNet and its Serbian NGO partners put the focus on strengthening cross-sector cooperation in Serbia, particularly fostering NGO-local government relations in selected cities. Each partner organization has set the objective of establishing a formalized relationship between local NGOs and the local government at municipality level.
